Crowns improve the shape of your teeth. Beside the aestethic aspect crowns protect and strength your existing tooth as well. After check up, your dentist will send an impression to the laboratory to request a perfect shaped crown matching with your teeth structure. Crowns are usually made from porcelain or porcelain bonded to gold. It is looks like a cap, placed on your damaged tooth.
Before placing the crown restoration your dentist will prepare (clean, and reshape) your tooth. While waiting for your permanent crown you will receive a temporary one to prevent any infection.
Once the permanent crown is ready to be placed you will have a second appointment. You will try on your new tooth, if you are happy with your dentist will cement it on your prepared tooth. If you respect 6 months check up and have a good mouth hygiene you crown will last 10-15 years.
