Wisdom Teeth Pain
Wisdom Teeth are the final third set of molars that majority of people develop in their late teens or early twenties. Wisdom teeth can be a valuable asset to ones mouth, when they are healthy and aligned properly. However it is more often than non that wisdom teeth are misaligned which can cause the pain and swelling.
When wisdom teeth are misaligned, they can cause a fair amount of pain of varying amounts of pain. As wisdom teeth can sometimes position themselves horizontally and angled away or towards the second set of molars. Alternatively they could even get a position inward or outward from the rest of your teeth. Due to the poor alignment it can sometimes happen with wisdom teeth that they can crowd or even damage adjacent teeth, the jawbone or nerves.
The wisdom teeth that grow and lean towards the adjacent wisdom teeth (second set of molars), can make them more vulnerable to decay by trapping plaque and debris.
Partly Erupted Wisdom Teeth
It is possible that your wisdom teeth are only partly broken through, or erupted and this allows for an opening for bacteria to enter around the wisdom tooth and cause an infection within the gum which usually results in a pain and causing the swelling, stiffness of the jaw or general illness. Partly erupted wisdom teeth are also more prone to tooth decay and gum disease due to the hard to reach location and awkward positioning makes the brushing and flossing difficult to be done.
